Abstract
Many research results, showed that problem solving skills in science learning of students in Indonesia categoried as low category. The low of problem solving skills is caused by several of factors such as: learning science is textbooks oriented and laboratory activities is conducted more traditional. One of alternative learning can be used to improve problem solving skills in science learning is scientific observation activities that self regulated learning oriented. In scientific observation activities self regulated learning oriented, teacher provide scaffolding to develop representation, make observation, explain and communicate the results of scientific observation. The self-regulated learning in scientific observation can be achieved through four stages: analyze the problem/ task, plan the solutions to solve problems, implement planned solution and evaluate the implementation of scientific observation.
