Abstract
The Objective of this study were to detect biofilm formation by Echerichia coli on teh paralon pipe surface and to determinate sensitivity of planktonic bacteria and biofilm resistance to chlorine treatment. The study used experiment method. The biofilm formation detected spectrophotometrically at 590 nm of wave length. The sensitivity of plantonic cell and the resistence of sessil/biofil cell to chlorine treatment at 1, 5, and 10 minutes. The study succesfully detecting biofilm formation by E.coli. The biofilm was not formatted on the paralon pipe surface but on the bottom of the growth tube as the flock of cell biomassa. The formation of biofil by E.coli was rising along period of incubation. The total of planctonic cell was decrease after 10 minutes exposed by chlorine compound, as the same as the sessil cell. The sessil cell/biofilm of E.coli was more resistance to chlorine compound (CaOCl2) at mgL-1 than the planctonic cell. Keyword: biofilm, Echerichia coli, resistance, chlorine
