						Abstract
These weeds become plants that grow at times, places and conditions that humans don't want. The purpose of this study was to determine the diversity of weed populations in chilli plantations based on the application of plastic mulch, eggshell mulch and rice straw mulch. The research was conducted from March to June 2016, in Dutohe Village, Kabila District, Bone Bolango District, Gorontalo Province. The research method used was a randomized block design (RBD) with four mulch treatments namely without mulch, rice straw mulch, eggshell mulch and black and silver plastic mulch which were repeated as many as five replications. The treatment of plastic mulch can reduce the type of weed distribution. The results of the study show that: 1. Mulch treatment is able to reduce the distribution of weeds in chilli plants from 6 types of weeds before planting, namely Acmella paniculata, Borerria alata, Chromolaena odorata, Puspalum vaginatum, Euphorbia prunifolia, and Cyperus rotundus to 3 types of weeds after Acalypha indica, Borerria alata, and Cyperus rotundus. 2. The treatment of types of plastic mulch has an influence on the decrease and percentage of weeds.
