Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of water hyacinth mulch and phosphorus fertilizer and its interaction with the growth and production of eggplant plants. The study was conducted in the village of Hulawa, Telaga District, Gorontalo Regency, Gorontalo Province. May to July 2016. The method used was Factorial Randomized Block Design, the first factor was water hyacinth mulch consisting of two levels, namely control and 9 tons / ha of water hyacinth mulch. The second factor is phosphorus fertilizer which consists of three levels, namely control, 100 kg / ha and 200 kg / ha. The results showed that water hyacinth mulch and phosphorus fertilizer had an effect on the growth and production of eggplant plants including plant height, number of leaves, number of fruits, weight of fruit crops and production of plots. The combination of 9 tons / ha of water hyacinth mulch and 200 kg / ha of phosphorus fertilizer was the best combination of 250,000 fruits / ha and 8.8 tons / ha of plant fruit weight.
