Abstract
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji kehidupan sosial tokoh dalam novel Oeroeg yang dapat menguraikan relasi antartokoh yang terdapat dalam novel Oeroeg tersebut. Pendekatan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah pendekatan postkolonial menurut Foulcher dan Day tahun 2008. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: (a) relasi kekuasaan politik dalam bentuk hubungan anatara administrator dan mandor; antara administrator dengan anak mandor; serta anatara tokoh Oeroeg dan ibu tiri tokoh “aku”; (b) relasi kekuasaan intelektual dalam bentuk hubungan antartokoh Lida yang logis dan tokoh Oeroeg yang pasif; (c) relasi kekuasaan kultural dalam bentuk hubungan antara tokoh Oeroeg dengan budaya pribuminya, seperti celana beludru, peci hitam, bahasa Melayu dan bahasa Sunda. Tokoh Lida dengan budaya baratnya seperti baju polo-shirt, gaya rambut modis, bahasa Belanda, berdansa, menonton bioskop; dan (d) relasi kekuasaan moral dalam bentuk hubungan antara tokoh “aku” yang suka memelihara binatang dan tokoh Oeroeg yang suka mengadu binatang, serta hubungan antara tokoh ‘aku’, tokoh Lida yang baik dan pekerja keras dengan tokoh Jules, tokoh Adi sebagai anak pelacur dan pencuri. Social Life In Oeroeg's novel The work of Hella S. Haasa State University of Gorontalo (Sance A Lamusu) Abstract This study aims at examining the social life of the characters in the novel Oeroeg which can describe the relation of the antagonists contained in the novel Oeroeg. The approach used in this research is the postcolonial approach according to Foulcher and Day 2008. The results show that: (a) the relation of political power in the form of relationships between administrators and foremen; Between administrator and child foreman; As well as the Oeroeg and stepmother of "me"; (b) the relation of intellectual power in the form of a logical relationship between the logical Lida and the passive figure of Oeroeg; (c) the relation of cultural power in the form of relations between Oeroeg figures and their indigenous cultures, such as velvet pants, black peci, Malay and Sundanese.
