Abstract
Morphology of Kota Barat Subdistrict which is the largest sub-district in Gorontalo City is predominantly an alluvial plain directly adjacent to Limboto Lake in the west. The main objectives of the study were to determine the quality of groundwater in Kota Barat sub district based on physical and chemical parameters and to know the use of groundwater from the wells of residents. To achieve these objectives, two methods are used, namely field survey and laboratory analysis. The research approach applied consists of two, namely qualitative and quantitative analysis. The results showed that groundwater quality was dominated by 64% clear water conditions, 82% odorless, 92% tasteless and did not contain dissolved solids by 90-92%. For a chemical analysis of the content of arsenic, iron and nitrate as N in safe limits because it is still below the maximum level. The utilization of ground water from community wells is dominated by bathing, washing and latrines as much as 64%. The average height of the groundwater is 4.286 meters above sea level.
