Abstract
The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of harvesting age and drying time on yield of patchouli oil (Pogostemon cablin benth) and the interaction between treatment of harvest age and drying time. This research was conducted from March to December 2015 in Huangobotu Village, Dungingi District, Gorontalo City. This study used factorial randomized block design (RBD), the first factor of harvest age consisted of 3 levels, namely harvest age of 4 months, harvest age of 5 months, and harvesting age of 6 months. The second factor is the drying time consisting of two levels, namely drying time of 5 hours for 2 days, and drying time of 7 hours for 2 days. The results showed that the treatment of 6 months harvest age affected the parameters of wet weight, dry weight and weight of patchouli oil, while the treatment of drying time 7 hours for 2 days gave effect to the parameters of dry weight, weight of patchouli oil and yield of patchouli oil. The interaction between the two treatments did not affect all observed parameters. Keywords: Harvest age, Drying time, Patchouli
