Abstract

This research is aimed at finding (1) types of cohesion that the students use in their academic writing, (2) cohesive devices used by the students in their academic writing, (3) the application of unity and coherence by the students in their academic writing, (4) the impact of critical devices on effective feedback to students’ academic writing. This research is designed in qualitative research method with written critical discourse analysis. The subjects of research are students who take ‘Research on Language and Language Teaching’ course, and data are analyzed by using critical discourse analysis and cohesive device analysis.
