The problem formulation was, ..."is there any influence of Rational Emotive Therapy (RET) group counseling on emotional intelegence of students at grade X of SMA Negeri 4 Gorontalo?. The research aimed to find out the influence of Rational Emotive Therapy (RET) group counseling on emotional intelligence of students at grade of SMA Negeri 4 Kota Gorontalo. This was pre-experimental research with One-Group Pretest-Postest Design. The independent variable was rational emotive therapy group counseling while the dependent variable emotional intelligence. The research subjects were 10 students at grade X SMA Negeri 4 Kota Gorontalo. The sampling applied Purposive Sampling. The finding of research obtained an average value of pretest for 127,00 and posttest for 141,40. The result of hypothesis testing was tcount>ttable or 4.538 > 3,25. In brief, the research hypothesis, namely there was an influence of Rational Emotive Therapy (RET) group counseling on emotional intelligence of students at grade X of SMA Negeri 4 Kota Gorontalo. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh konseling kelompok rational emotive therapy terhadap kecerdasan emosional siswa kelas X SMA Negeri 4 Kota Gorontalo. Jenis penelitian ini adalah Pre-experimental design dengan rancangan One-Group Pretest-Postest Design. Variabel bebas yaitu konseling kelompok rational emotive therapy dan variabel terikat yaitu kecerdasan emosional. Subjek penelitian dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas X SMA Negeri 4 Kota Gorontalo yang berjumlah 10 orang siswa. Teknik pengambilan sampel menggunakan Purposive Sampling. Hasil penelitian diperoleh nilai rata-rata pretest 127,00 dan nilai rata-rata posttest 141,40. Hasil pengujian hipotesis diperoleh thitung > ttabel yaitu 4.538>3,25. Dapat disimpulkan hipotesis dalam penelitian ini terdapat pengaruh konseling kelompok rational emotive therapy terhadap kecerdasan emosional siswa di SMA Negeri 4 Kota Gorontalo.
