Abstract
ABSTRACT NISMAWATY. 2012. The Use of Illocutionary Act in Teaching English This research is conducted based on two problem statements what kinds of illocutionary act used in teaching and learning English in the classroom?. What are the functions of illocutionary act in teaching and learning English in the class? The objective of this research is to describe kinds of illocutionary act used in teaching and learning English in the classroom. To describe the functions of illocutionary act used in teaching and learning English in the classroom. The benefits are obtained in this research are theoretical and practical benefits. In this research, I use descriptive qualitative method. In this case, I describe the speech act that related with aspects of illocutionary act in language among the students and teacher in classroom. The data involved is only using utterances and words, and not using number. The source of data is all teachers who are teaching English in SMA Negeri 1 Boliyohuto 2011/2012 academic years. The technique of collecting the data used in this research is listening technique, recording techniques, and technical of collecting notes. The technique is done with listening to the language. The data in this research is analyzed qualitatively. Based on the research finding, it can be concluded that the illocutionary used by the teacher in this research consist of assertive, directives, commisive and expressive. Key Answer.
