Abstract
ABSTRACT FebrinawatyKobi.Nim: 321 408 018.Skripsi: A Descriptive study on students' ability in comprehending recount text. Department of English Education, Faculty of Letter and Culture. StateUniversity of Gorontalo 2015. The objective of this research is to find out how is the students' ability in comprehending the recount text and to find out what are the factors that influence to the students' ability in comprehending recount text. This research used descriptive quantitative method. The population of this research is the students at the eight grade of SMPNegeri 2 Telaga 2013-2014 Academic Years. The subjects of this research are the students at the eight grade of SMPN 2 Telaga, in this research Based on the research finding and discussion in the chapter IV can be concluded that it is still difficult for the students comprehending in recount text. The comprehending that students did can be seen from their result. The students' comprehend is 57.10 % and it is categorized into good level. So it means that the students' ability needed to be improved.Based on the result of anlysis, it is found the students' ability in comprehending recount text. They are the students' ability in answering implicit question, where most the students difficult to answer it, some of the students also still difficult to identify the events of the story, for example tell what happened of the story. In adition , the students still have difficult to analyze the inference from story. Key words. Ability, Comprehending, Recount Text
