The objective of this research is to know the students’ perspective of role playing in speaking English at the first grade students’ in SMK N 1 Gorontalo. Subjects of this research are the students in accounting class, notably in AK.4. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative method. The result of this research shows that most of participants are motivated by the application of the role playing and they agree that the role playing can improve their speaking. The students disagree who the statement that they will not be active in learning process when using role playing. By considering the result of the students’ perspective, the researcher hopes that the teachers to pay attention about the teaching strategy and the students are expected to learn more.
