Abstract
ABSTRACT VICTRIS ARISCASARI, (2013): "The Application of Dora the Explorer Cartoon Film on Elementary Students' Vocabulary."(A research is conducted in My Liberty private course). English Department, Letters and Culture Faculty, State University of Gorontalo. Supervisors: (1) Dra Elsje L. Sambouw, M.Hum, (2) Helene Badu, S.Pd, M.Pd. The Objective of this research is to describe deeply the application of Dora the Explorer Cartoon Film on elementary students' English vocabulary.It is conducted at Elementary Level in My Liberty Private Course. The participants of this research are students in My Liberty private course from first, third, and fourth school grades gathered in a class. This research used qualitative approach, while the research method applied in this study is descriptive design. The instruments of this research are interview, observation and document examination. The researcher conclude that the result of analyzing data shows that the application of Dora the Explorer cartoon film as media in teaching English vocabulary for Elementary students get positive response from the students, it is proved by the student's expression who are enthusiast and active when the instructor apply Dora the Explorer cartoon film as media in teaching vocabulary. The instructor demonstrates and illustrates the meaning of target language by using real objects from Dora cartoon film. So that, the students can guesses the meaning of target words easily. Key words: Dora the Explorer, Cartoon film, Students' vocabulary.
