This skripsi is about contrastive analysis of noun phrase in English and Atinggola language. The objective of this research is to find out the similarities and differences of noun phrase in English and Atinggola language. The method of this research is qualitative descriptive method. It is used to describe the similarities and diffferences of noun phrase in English and Atinggola language. This research used corpus analysis to collect the data. In analyzing the data, researcher used contrastive analysis technique. There are four steps to analyze the data, the first is describing the data which collect through conversation of some informant that has been recording. The second is selecting the item that be contrasted namely English and Atinggola noun phrase. The third is contrasting noun phrase in English and Atinggola language. The last step is predicting difficulties in learning English and Atinggola language.
The results of this research are English and Atinggola have some similarities and differences based on data analysis. The similarities of both language are determiner is placed before noun (head), while prepositional phrase and adverb phrase are located after noun (head). Whereas, the differences are in English language possessive, demonstrative, numerals, and adjective are placed before noun (head). Thus, in Atinggola language they are located after noun (head). Then, Atinggola language have a verb that placed before noun (head), nevertheless some cases in English verb is cannot accepted in pre modification or post modification. Additionally, the researcher predict that in learning English and Atinggola language is difficult, because both language have a different structure of noun phrase, seen by the place of word classes based on pre modification + head + post modification
