Thematic Roles is one of discussions in syntax. The theory of Thematic Roles in this research used Halin’s theory. In this research the thematic roles are analyzed in interrogative wh-question sentences to find a main thing from the basic answer ‘does thematic role occur in interrogative wh-question sentences?’

The objective of this research is to know the process of analyzing thematic roles in interrogative wh-question sentences. Examples of interrogative wh-question sentences are taken from 2012 edition IC book as document in this research. Because this is a linguistic analysis with the theory thematic roles, with descriptive and explanatory adequacy, this research used qualitative method which design is applied is case study design. In relation to it, the analysis is described with the form of words. Also, before getting the thematic roles, an interrogative wh-question sentence should be analyzed first with supporting analysis such as function and category roles.
