ABSTRACT
Ikrawati lakahoro.2017. "Improving Student's reading ability to comprehend the recount text through herringbone technique".(A research conducted at the student's of class VIII-C SMPN 03 Gorontalo 2017/2018 academic years). Skripsi, English Department, Faculty of Letter and Culture, State University of Gorontalo. 2017. This research is advised by Dr. Hanisah Hanafi, M.Pd as the first advisor and Helena Badu, S.Pd., M.Pd as the second advisor. This research conducted based on the problem statement " Can Herringbone technique improve the students reading ability in recount text?". The objective of research is to find out whether herringbone technique can improve the students' reading ability or not. The method use in this research is quasi experimental menthod. The population of this research is all the students of SMP 03 Gorontalo City in grade eight 2017/2018 academic year that consist of 279 students'. The sample of this research is the students in second grade especially VIII-C that consist of 31 students'. In collecting the data, I use the test, the kind of test is multiple choice. The data of this research is analyzed quantitatively, I used the statistical analysis the hypothesis of this research is received. Because of t testing show that tcount 6.912 tlist 2.042. it means that, the herringbone technique can improve the students' ability in reading recount text. the test used in pre test and post test data was normally distributed. The critical of testing is in the level significance 0,05 is 2.042. the value taken from sample (n-1) which is 30 =2.042.
