Abstract Habibah, Lutfi. 321411085. 2015. An Analysis of Lexical Relations in Symbol and Sign (a short story written by Vladimir Nabokov). Skripsi. English Department. Faculty of Letter and Culture. Universitas Negeri Gorontalo. Principle supervisor: Dr. Suleman Bouti, M.Hum and Co-supervisor: Sri Widyarti Ali, S.Pd, M. Hum. The objective of study is to find out the types of lexical relations. The study is limited only on analyzing a short story "symbol and sign", written by Vladimir Nabokov (1948), based on types of lexical relation that defined by Saeed (2009) which is devided into eigth types such as synonymy, antonymy, hyponymy, homonymy, polysemy, meronymy, member collection and portion mass. The data of this research is the sentences that contain lexical words that indicate the lexical relation the data were analyzed by using descriptive qualitative method. The result of the study showed that there are 3 data are synonymy, 11 data are opposites (antonymy), 5 data are hyponymy, 3 data are meronymy, 4 data are member-collection, 1 data pr
