Co-Supervisor: Karmila Machmud, M.A., Ph.D. The circumstance of poor handwriting, which is a major cause of underachievement, attracts researcher's idea to examine the correlation between handwriting and writing course achievement of 25 English Department students of 2013 academic year in Universitas Negeri Gorontalo. The research design of this study used descriptive quantitative method through correlational study. Score cards for measurement of handwriting by gray (1915) is utilized for the eligibility of data finding. Pearson product moment correlation is applied to determine the correlation of handwriting and writing course achievement. The hypothesis of this study conveys there is no a significant correlation between students' writing course achievement based on the handwriting. It is indicated by using the table of correlation coefficient interpretation, in which the correlation coefficient analysis of this study acquires 0,299. It is interpreted that the correlation between students' handwriting score (variable X) and students' writing III course achievement (variable Y) is weak.
