Abstract
ABSTRACT Wilan Radjak, 2018. 321 411 149. Improving Students' Reading Comprehension Through Student Teams Achievement Division Technique. This research was conducted at the eight students of SMP Negeri 1 Paguyaman. SKRIPSI. English Education Study Program, Letters and Culture Faculty. First advisor Dr. Jolanda H.D Pilongo, M.Pd. Second advisor Rahmawaty Mamu, S.Pd.,M.Pd. The purpose of this research is to find out whether or not the students teams achievement division technique can be improve students' reading comprehension. The sample was class VIII2 in SMP Negegri 1 Paguyaman which consisted of 27 students. This research used quantitative method by applying pre-test and post-test design. This research focused on applying student teams' achievement division technique (STAD) to improve students' reading ability. The result of this research showed that, in pre-test data, the students' lowest score was 6 and the highest score was 20, while in post-test data the students' lowest score was 11 and the highest score was 23. Hence, the hypothesis of researcher was acceptable because the result of T-testing, it found that The value of t-table for (0, 975)(52) = 2, 02 and the writer can concluded that 2, 02 > -2, 42 or t-table > t-count or in the other words Students Team Achievement Division can improve students' ability in reading comprehension.
