Abstract
ABSTRACT Yuniar Duda. 2016. The Influence of Collaborative Writing Strategy in Students' Writing Recount Text. A research on students in ten grade of Madrasah Aliyah Negeri Tilamuta in academic year 2015/2016. English Department, Letter and Culture Faculty, State University of Gorontalo. Advisor (1) Nonny Basalama, MA., Ph.D. Advisor (2) Titien F. Mohammad, S.Pd., M.App.Ling. This research aimed to investigate the influence of collaborative writing strategy in writing recount text. It was conducted in Madrasah Aliyah Negeri Tilamuta. To achieve the objective of research, it used pre experimental research. The total number of sample was 25 students. The data was obtained from students' writing recount text in pre-test and post-test. The instrument employed in this research was writing performance test and the data were analyzed through t-test. The results indicated there were significant improvements after applying collaborative writing strategy. The students who were taught by using collaborative writing strategy had a highest score. It was because the students' average score in pre-test was only 41 while the average score in post-test was 72. The improvement was about 31%, while by using t-test calculation, it was obtained t count (11.35) was more than t list (1.711). It means that the hypothesis was accepted, it proved there was a significant differences between students writing before applying collaborative writing strategy and after applying this strategy. Regarding to the data above, it can be concluded that collaborative writing strategy is effective to be applied in process of learning writing skill.
