Abstract
ABSTRACT Nurul Hidayah, 321412078: The Application of Total Physical Response Method in enriching students' vocabulary. Skripsi. English Education Study Program. Faculty of Letters and Culture, Gorontalo State University. Principal Advisors Prof. Dr. H. Hasanuddin M. Hum, and Rahmawaty Mamu, S.pd, M.Pd. The aim of this research was to find out the application of Total Physical Response Method in Enriching students' vocabulary at SMP Negeri 3 Kota Gorontalo or not. The researcher used experiment method in this research and the research design was pre-experimental design with one group pre-test post-test. The sample of this research was the second grade of SMPN 3 Kota Gorontalo in academic year 2018/2019. The sample of this research was the VIIId which consist of 27 students. In collecting the data, the researcher used multiple choice test which consist of 30 items and using TPR method in it. It can be seen that the students' score in post-test is bigger than pre-test. The total score of post-test is 698 and the total score of pre-test is 533. In addition, the hypothesis was tested by using t-test formula. The criteria used to verify the hypothesis was accept H1 if tcount > ttable. In this case, the researcher found that the tcount is bigger than ttable (10,33 >1,706) with the level of significance a = 0, 05. Based on the result of the data analysis, the hypothesis of this research is accepted. It can be concluded that the application of TPR can enrich students' vocabulary. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui penerapan metode pembelajaran total physical response untuk meningkatkan kosa kata siswa. Peneliti menggunakan metode eksperiment. dan desain penelitian yaitu pre-experimental desaign.dengan one group pre-test dan pos-test. Sample penelitian yaitu siswa kelas VIIId SMPN 3 kota Gorontalo pada tahun ajaran 2018/2019 berjumlah 27 orang. tes pilihan ganda yang terdiri dari 30 soal digunaka sebagai instrumen pengumpulan data. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa skor pos-test siswa lebih tinggi dibandingkan pre-test. Total skor post-test adalah 698 sedangkan pre-test adalah 533. Hipotesis adalah H1 t count > t table. Hasilnya menunjukkan bahwa nilai t hitung lebih besar dari t tabel( 10,33 >1,706 ) pada tingkat signifikan a = 0, 05. Berdasarkan analisa data, hipotesis penelitian dapat diterima.
