Advisor: (1) Rosma Kadir, S.Pd., MA (2) Farid Muhammad, S.Pd., MA Metaphor is a part of the figurative language that compares two different things directly. In order to analyze metaphor is requires more attention. It is necessary to pay more attention to analyze metaphor, because it has a simple sentence and a deep meaning. This study focuses on the analysis of metaphor and the meaning of each metaphor in 6 Emily Dickinson's love poems; Love is anterior to life, that I did always love, Yesterday is History, Not with the club the heart is broken, To lose thee, to See Her is a picture, and I'VE got an arrow here. This study uses semantic approach, literal and non literal meaning. In order to analyze the poems, this study uses Larson's theory they are topic, image, and point of similarity. He stated that metaphor consist of two kinds which are dead and live metaphor. This research finds out that there are two kinds of metaphor in seven poems of Emily Dickinson. Key Word: Metaphor, Semantic Approach, Emily Dickinson .
