Abstract
ABSTRACT Bella Vista, 2018 Teaching Reading By Using SQ5R Technique, Faculty of Letters and Culture, State University of Gorontalo. Advisor (1) Dr. Rasuna Talib, M.Hum. Advisor (2) Dra. Elsje L. Sambouw, M.Hum. This reserch was aims to find out whether or not the SQ5R technique can significantly improve the ability of the students to comprehend the reading in narrative text or not. The research conducted by using Pre-experimental with concern on applied pre-test, treatment and post-test. The populations in this study was the second grade students in SMPN 4 Kotamobagu. The sample of this research were 34 students in 8A consist of 15 females and 19 Males. By counting score before and after treatments, the result showed that tcount -12,61 at the level of significance = 0,05 and the degree of freedom (df) = (34+34-2) = 66 tlist was 2,00. Based on the criteria of hypothesis if tcount less than tlist it can be conclude that the hypothesis of this research is received. It means that the use of SQ5R technique can improve the students reading comprehension. Key Words: Reading Skill, SQ5R Technique, pre experimental research
