Abstract

Abstract Rahmiyati Zukri Hasiru. 2019. "Slang in Twitter. English Department, Faculty of Letters and Culture. State University of Gorontalo. The principal supervisor was Dr. Suleman Bouti, S.Pd, M. Hum, and The co-supervisor was Sri Widyarti, S.Pd, M.Hum. This research aims to analyses the use of slang in twitter. Especially the slang posted on twitter by millennial. The researcher analyzed 20 posted status on twitter on latest period of 2018 and current 2018. By that data, the researcher found that social slang is the most used slang on twitter in that period. The result of study shows that there are 13 out of 20 data are social slang. This research use qualitative method which emphasize the interpretation and description processes. In addition, qualitative research concerns on the context of the data. In supporting the data, this research uses the types of slang by Erick Partridge. Sources of data of this research are text book, journal, internet document, literary work, article and biography which included in library research.
