Abstract Sakinah S. Dunggu. 321 412 150. 2017. The Forms of Discrimination in Emily Bronte's Wuthering Heights. Skripsi. English Education Study Program, Letters and Culture Faculty, Universitas Negeri Gorontalo. It was supervised by Rosma Kadir, S.Pd, M.A. and Farid Muhammad, S.Pd, M.A. Discrimination is someone doing unfair treatment to other people because of their race, ethnicity, social class, etc. The aims of this study is to describes the forms of discrimination in Wuthering Heights novel (1847) written by Emily Bronte. The methodology of this study is qualitative. Further, this study focuses on Heathcliff as the main character who experienced discrimination. The analysis of this study using Newman's theory of the forms of discrimination and Sociological criticism by Wellek and Waren in order to criticize social issue that exists in the novel. The data are taken from the sentences, statement, and words by the narrator and the characters. The findings reveal that the most discrimination Heathcliff experienced is verbalization form which consists of 7 data. There are two examples of verbalization data "though itâs as dark almost as if it came from the devil" and "Take my colt, gypsy, then!" said young Earnshaw". The word gypsyâ is a discrimination of verbalization forms as labelling name for Romanian people who have dark skin. Moreover, there are 4 data of avoidance forms, 2 data of exclusion forms and 4 data of physical forms. The result shows that those discriminations occurred because of race and social class of Heathcliff. Keywords: Discrimination, Forms of Discrimination, Sociological Criticism
