This research was done to find out the students ability in translating descriptive text. By knowing students level of ability to students teacher can prepare technique or material that can be used to help them with their translating ability. In this current research is "What is the level of students translation ability in translating descriptive text. This research was designed by using qualitative method.The research site was SMK NEGERI 1 Pulubala. The participants were eleventh grade, with 317 students in five class. Here, the writer only focus in class B with 20 students as the participants. The source of data in this research is descriptive text that entitled ..."my mother that was taken from 2012 englishindo.com website. This descriptive text were chosen because the students specially from level of senior high school feel easy to translate by the translator and the text is not too long to translate. The technique of analyzing data was done with some steps; Reading and checking the data, Identifying the data and Classifying the data Based on data analysis it was found that the level of students ability in translating English descriptive text into Bahasa Indonesia is fair. The grades that were given to their texts were in fair category.
