Advisor (1) Dr. Suleman Bouti, S.Pd., M.Hum. (2) Jefriyanto Saud, S.Pd., M.A. This research aims to find directive speech act in the movie directed by Shana Foste entitled Endless Love. It applies John Searle's (1979, p.21-26) theory about directive speech acts as the main theory and is supported by Dell Hymes's theory (1972, p. 58-59, as cited in Ibrahim, 1994, p. 266-267). The data is collected through utterances or the dialogue and the script of the movie in pdf format. Using the qualitative method to analyze the data, the results of the data are shown. They are four types of the directive illocutionary act found in the movie such as prohibition (six utterances), suggestion (one utterance), ordering (ten utterances), and requesting (thirteen utterances). The most type that is used in the movie is requesting act that appeared thirteen times. Finally, it can be concluded that from the six types of the directive illocutionary act, only four of them that can be found. Moreover, besides directive acts that can be found in war movies, they also exist in romance movies. Keywords: Directive speech acts, John Searle, Illocutionary act, Movie
