Abstract
ABSTRACT Eka Cahyani Pratiwi A. Talib. 321415131. 2022. Teachers� Challenges in Teaching English Speaking Skill towards Tenth Grade Students at SMKN1 Gorontalo. English Education Study Program, Letters and Cultures Faculty, Universitas Negeri Gorontalo. First advisor Dr. Harto S. Malik, M.Hum and second advisor Titien F. Mohammad, S.Pd., M.App. Ling. This study attempted to investigate the challenges of teaching English in speaking skills experienced by teacher�s in SMKN 1 Kota Gorontalo. The study focused on what are challenges teachers faced when teaching English as a foreign language. This study was conducted at SMKN 1 Gorontalo especially teachers, the number of participants emerged from six teachers. Researcher applied and interview, voice recording and transcribing to collect the data. The data used descriptive qualitative method and employ thematic analyses that supported by Braun and Clark. Thematic analyses are identifies the themes and patterns of meaning across a dataset in relation to research question. This research also employed a method by Sugiyono, which explains three analysis activities to further uncover the discovery. The data analyses are data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing/verification. From the result of the study, the researcher has found that the teachers are challenged by the student�s lack of vocabulary, lack of learning interest in English speaking, students has low motivation in learning English, teachers faced limited time of teaching, and this study also discuss about the learning method that teachers use in teaching English speaking.
