English Department, Faculty of Letters and Culture, State University of Gorontalo. Advisor (1) Dr. Adriansyah Abu Katili S.S, M.Pd (2) Farid Muhamad, S.Pd., MA. Metaphor is one of the figures of speech that states what one person says is meant to describe something else. Metaphor describes an event using symbols and this figure of speech is used to describe one thing or event with other things. The research aims is to explain about metaphor in Amanda Gorman's poem "The Hill We Climb". The researcher used genetic structuralism approach to analyze the poems. It found that Gorman used metaphor in order to compare directly her wish with themes of the future and past, as well as hope. Keywords : Poem, metaphor, genetic structuralism, Amanda Gorman
