Esensi dari permasalahan ini adalah tingginya beban kerja Room attendant di hotel Copthorne Orchid Penang yang berdampak pada kepuasan tamu, Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui beban kerja Room attendant di hotel Copthorne Orchid Penang. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kualitatif, data didalami dengan melalui wawancara mendalam, pengamatan terlibat dan studi dokumen, selanjutnya, data dianalisis dan diinterpretasi dengan teori-teori yang mendasari untuk menjawab permasalahan.
Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan, dari analisis beban kerja Room attendant yang diteliti terlalu tinggi. Jumlah waktu keseluruhan yang dibutuhkan untuk membersihkan 25 kamar adalah 880 menit, sementara waktu efektif yang mengikuti standar operasional prosedur dengan kondisi Room attendant yang berpengalaman, dibutuhkan waktu 360 menit. Ada selisih waktu yang signifikan sebesar 608 menit untuk menyelesaikan pekerjaan-pekerjaan tersebut, artinya Room attendant kekurangan waktu sebesar 608 menit atau kekurangan karyawan sebanyak 3 orang untuk membersihkan 25 kamar sesuai dengan SOP. Beban kerja Room attendant yang tinggi ini berpengaruh pada penampilan kerja dan kualitas pelayanan yang kurang baik. Hal ini mengakibatkan keluhan tamu meningkat, ketidakhadiran karyawan rendah, ketidakpuasan tamu, dan menurunnya tingkat hunian yang berdampak terhadap pendapatan hotel tersebut, Semakin ideal rasio karyawan dengan beban kerjanya, semakin produktif kinerjanya.

The essence of this issue is the high of Room attendant workload at the Copthorne Orchid Hotel Penang, which have an impact on guest satisfaction, this research aimed to determine the workload Room attendant at the Copthorne Orchid Hotel Penang. The research method using a qualitative, Data elaborated through in-depth interviews, participant observation and document study, Furthermore, the data were analyzed and interpreted with the underlying theories to answer the problem.
This results indicate the analysis of workload of the Room attendant researched were too high. The amount of overall time required to clean 25 rooms is 880 minutes, while the effective time of the follow standard operating procedures with the condition Room attendant an experienced takes 360 minutes. There is a difference in time is significant that is 608 minutes to completed their works, it means Room attendant lack of time amounted to 608 minutes or employee shortages as many as 3 people to clean 25 rooms in accordance with the SOP. Room attendant workload this high impact on work performance and quality of service is poor. This resulted in increased guest complaints, lower employee absenteeism, and dissatisfaction guests, and decreased occupancy rate impact on revenue of the hotel, the more ideal ratio of employees with their workload, its performance is more productive.
