Meningkatkan kemampuan komunikasi matematis melalui model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe snowball throwing pada materi lingkaran di kelas VIII SMP Negeri 1 Tilongkabila Kabupaten Bone Bolango . Penelitian tindakan kelas ini dilakukan dengan tujuan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa pada materi lingkaran melalui model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe snowball throwing.
Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada siswa kelas VIII di SMP Negeri 1 Tilongkabila Kabupaten Bone Bolango tahun ajaran 2016/2017. Siswa yang diberikan tindakan kelas berjumlah 24 orang, terdiri dari 9 orang laki-laki dan 15 orang perempuan yang rata-rata memiliki kemampuan dan karakter yang bervariasi dan berbeda.
Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa pada kegiatan siklus I, hasil observasi kegiatan guru mencapai 72,46 % untuk kategori baik (belum tuntas), sedangkan untuk observasi aktivitas siswa mencapai 63,33 % untuk kategori baik (belum tuntas), dan hasil tes kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa mencapai 54 % untuk kategori baik (belum tuntas) yang telah ditetapkan. Pada siklus II hasil observasi kegiatan guru mencapai 100% untuk kategori baik dan sangat baik (tuntas) dan observasi aktivitas siswa mencapai 100 % untuk kategori baik dan sangat baik (tuntas) sedangkan hasil tes kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa mencapai 79 % telah mencapai nilai ketuntasan yang telah ditetapkan yakni 75 %.
Berdasarkan hasil analisis data penelitian ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa penggunaan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe snowball throwing dapat meningkatkan kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa SMP Negeri 1 Tilongkabila

This classroom action research is implemented with the objective of increasing the mathematics communication ability of students in circle method through snowball throwing type of cooperative learning.
This study is conducted on grade VIII students of SMP Negeri 1 Tilongkabila, District of Bone Bolango in 2016/2017 academic year. In this study, 24 students receive treatment, which consist of 9 males and 15 females with different ability and characters.
This study reveals that during the first cycle of the activity, the teacher's observasiton result is 72.46% and within the range of good category, whereas students' activity is 63.33% also within good category range, and the students' mathematic communication anility is 54% within good range, in which all these achievements are below the standard attainment category. During the second cycle, teacher's activity observation and students' activity observation are both 100% and within good and very good category. Both are within the standard of attainment category. In addition, students' mathematic communication is 79% and well above the set standard which was only 75%.
This analysis concludes that the snowball throwing type of cooperative learning can increase students' mathematic communication in SMP Negeri 1 Tilongkabila.
