Penelitian ini adalah penelitian eksperimen yang bertujuan untuk mengetahui adanya pengaruh penggunaan Model Problem Based Learning terhadap kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematika siswa lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan menggunakan model Pembelajaran langsung pada materi Aritmatika Sosial. Hipotesis dalam penelitian ini adalah kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematika siswa yang dibelajarkan dengan menggunakan Model Problem Based Learning lebih tinggi dari kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematika siswa yang dibelajarkan dengan Model Pembelajaran Langsung materi Aritmatika Sosial di Kelas VII SMP Negeri 2 Limboto.
Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas VII SMP Negeri 2 Limboto. Pengambilan sampel dilakukan dengan teknik cluster random sampling sehingga diperoleh untuk kelas VII-2 terpilih sebagai kelas yang dibelajarkan menggunakan Model Problem Based Learning (kelas eksperimen) yang diikuti oleh 20 siswa dan kelas VII-3 yang dibelajarkan menggunakan Model Pembelajaran Langsung (kelas kontrol) yang diikuti oleh 20 siswa. Dalam penelitian ini design yang digunakan adalah pretest-posttest control group design serta teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan yaitu pemberian tes kemampuan pemecahan masalah berbentuk essay. Analisis inferensial dalam penelitian ini menggunakan uji Anacova. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan pemecahan matematika siswa yang dibelajarkan dengan menggunakan Model Problem Based Learning lebih tinggi dari kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematika siswa yang dibelajarkan dengan Model Pembelajaran Langsung pada materi Aritmatika Sosial.

This research is an experimental study that aims to determine the effect of using the Problem Based Learning Model on students' mathematical problem-solving ability, which is higher that using a direct learning model on Social Arithmetic topic. The hypothesis in this study is that students����¯�¿�½���¯���¿���½����¯�¿�½�¯�¿�½ mathematical problem-solving ability taught by using the Problem-Based Learning Model is higher than the mathematical problem-solving ability of students taught by the Direct Learning Model in Social Arithmetic topic in grade VII SMP Negeri 2 Limboto. The Population is all students in grade VII of SMP Negeri 2 Limboto. The sampling applies cluster random sampling technique so it is obtained grade VII-2 as the class taught by the Problem Based Learning Model (experimental class) which is participated by 20 students and grade VII-3 taught by the Direct Learning Model (control class) is participated by 20 students. The study uses the pretest-posttest control group design with the provision of a problem-solving ability test in the form of essays as the data collection technique. The inferential analysis is the ANCOVA test. The results of this study indicate that the students����¯�¿�½���¯���¿���½����¯�¿�½�¯�¿�½ mathematical problem-solving ability who are taught by the Problem Based Learning Model is higher than the students����¯�¿�½���¯���¿���½����¯�¿�½�¯�¿�½ mathematicial problem-solving ability taught by the Direct Learning Model on Social Arithmetic topic.
