Abstract
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui proses pembuatan biodiesel dari biji bintaro dan mengetahui karakteristik biodiesel yang dihasilkan. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode eksperimen. Sampel yang digunakan adalah biji bintaro yang diperoleh dari sekitaran kampus Universitas Negeri Gorontalo. Minyak biji bintaro diperoleh dari hasil pengepresan ulir. Minyak yang dihasilkan, dilakukan pemurnian untuk menghilangkan pengotor, dan transesterifikasi untuk menghasilkan biodiesel. Biodiesel yang diperoleh ditentukan karakteristiknya dan disesuaikan dengan SNI-04-7182-2006. Untuk mengetahui komposisi asam lemak dalam biodiesel, dilakukan analisis dengan GCMS. Secara umum hasil karakteristik telah memenuhi ketentuan SNI-04-7182-2006, kecuali bilangan asam. Dimana untuk kadar air 0.046%, densitas 890 Kg/m3, 3.03 cSt, bilangan asam 0.85 mgKOH/g, kadar FFA 0,42%, bilangan penyabunan 127.19 mgKOH/g, bilangan iod 45.17 gI2/100 angka setana 78.83 dan warna yang dihasilkan adalah kuning jernih. Hasil analisis GCMS diketahui bahwa terdapat 4 komposisi terbesar kandungan metil ester yaitu metil oleat 39.30%, metil palmitat 25.92%, metil linoleat 15.77%, dan metil stearat 10.37%. Kata Kunci: Bintaro, Biodiesel, Transesterifikasi, GCMS This research aims at investigating the process of biodiesel production from sea mango seed and the characterstics of produced biodiesel. This research applies experimental method. The samples are sea mango seed collected from State University of Gorontalo's environment. The oil produced by sea mango seed is obtained from the result of pressing screw. Then, purification is conducted to reduce the pollutant, while transesterification is to produce the biodiesel. The produce biodiesel is determined its characterstics and appropriated with the SNI-04-7182-2006. Meanwhile, GCMS is applied to find out the composition of fatty acid. The result show that, generally, the characterstics have fulfilled the SNI-04-7182-2006, but the acid value. The result, however can be observed as follows: water level is 0.046%, densitiy is 890 Kg/m3, 3.03 cSt, acid value is 0.85 mgKOH/g, FFA level is 0.42%, saponification is 127.19 mgKOH/g, iod value is 45.17 gI2/100, cetane number is 78.83 and the produced color is canary. The GCMS analyisis result found that there are 4 highest composition of metil ester content namely metil oleat as 39.30%, metil palmitat as 25.92%, metil linoleat as 15.77% and metil stearat is 10.37%.
