Abstract
ABSTRACT THE USEFULNESS OF SAWDUST AS ADDITIONAL MATERIAL IN MAKING UNBAKED BRICK By Sulastri Abas SN : 5114 10 072 Masonry is one of building structure that has function to protect people from wind, directly sunshine and rain. Masonry is usually using brick. The research done with using sawdust as mixture replaces to know a brick physically without combustion. It is also to know a percentage of sawdust addition toward the power of brick compression. The mixture compositions were cement, clay, and baked sawdust with four variations mixture. Directions of reconstitution was clay mixed with 10% cement and (5%, 10% and 15%) sawdust, and water. Furthermore all of the materials made to be brick and drying during 28 days, levelled by mortar and drying in room temperature during 2 weeks, ready to be compresive test. The result of research shows the addition of swadust 5% results a high compression. Sample B136,94 Kg/cm2, B2 = 42,52 Kg/cm2, B3 = 36,06 Kg/cm2 and B4 = 34,12 Kg/cm2. All samples in A2 class, the water absorption for B1= 15,505%, B2 = 14,984%, B3 = 18,110%, B4 = 25,11%, the lowest density of brick is 1675 gram for B3 sample.
