HPMC merupakan basis sediaan gel yang baik terhadap serangan mikroba sehingga dapat membuat sediaan gel bertahan kestabilan fisiknya lebih lama dan penggunaan HPMC sebagai basis yang bersifat hidrofilik juga memiliki kelebihan di antaranya menghasilkan daya sebar pada kulit yang baik, efeknya mendinginkan, tidak menyumbat pori-pori kulit, mudah dicuci dengan air, dan pelepasan obatnya baik. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk melihat pengaruh HPMC terhadap kestabilan fisik gel sari buah wortel. Dalam penelitian ini dibuat 3 formula dimana semua formula mengandung komponen yang sama yaitu sari buah wortel sebagai bahan aktif. Hasil penelitian terhadap kestabilan fisik gel sari buah wortel bahwa penambahan dari HPMC tidak berpengaruh terhadap perubahan pH gel. Dari hasil pengujian viskositas terhadap ketiga formula F1 dengan viskositas 1200, F2 3147,60, F3 16160, dimana viskositas yang baik dan mendekati nilai FSR 3333,33 adalah formula F2 konsentrasi 2%, sedangkan pada F1 dan F3 tidak stabil.

HPMC is a base gel formulation well against microbial attack so as to make the gel formulation to survive the stability of physical longer and use of HPMC as a base that is hydrophilic also has the advantage of which generate power spread on the skin is good, the effect is cool, do not clog the pores of the skin , easily washed with water, and release the medicine well. The purpose of this study to see the effect on the physical stability HPMC gel sweet star fruit juice. In this study, three formula wherein all the formulas contain the same components, namely sweet star fruit juice as an active ingredient. Propilengglikol as a humectant, methyl parabens as preservatives, distilled water as a solvent and HPMC varied concentration of 1.75%, 2% and 2.25%. The results showed that the formula at a concentration of 2% HPMC has good physical stability and do not have significant differences.
