Abstract
Indonesia sebagai negara tropis memiliki keanekaragaman hayati penghasil minyak atsiri. Kebutuhan minyak atsiri semakin meningkat setiap tahunnya seiring dengan meningkatnya perkembangan industri modern seperti industri parfum, kosmetik, makanan, farmasi, aromaterapi dan obat-obatan. Tujuan dilakukan penelitian ini yaitu untuk mengetahui hasil dari identifikasi senyawa minyak atsiri pada tanaman sereh wangi (Cymbopogon Nardus) dengan menggunakan GC-MS. GCMS adalah gabungan dari alat GC dan MS. Sampel yang dianalisis akan dipisahkan dahulu dengan alat GC (Gas Chromatography), kemudian diidentifikasi dengan alat MS (Mass Spectrometry). minyak atsiri diambil dari sampel Sereh wangi (Cymbopogon nardus) yang megandung sekitar 1-2% minyak atsiri pada basis basah. bagian tanaman yang diambil dari sampel Sereh wangi adalah daun, batang, kulit, dan akar. Metode yang digunakan untuk menarik senyawa minyak atsiri yaitu menggunakan Destilasi Stainless Steam. identifikasi minyak atsiri dilakukan dengan metode GC-MS. Hasil analisis kualitatif penelitian menujukan adanya 3 karakteristik penyusun minyak atsiri, dilihat dari peak/ pucak grafik GC-MS yaitu; Terpineol (Monoterpen), Guainol (Metabolit Sekunder), dan Spathulanol (Seskuiterpen). Kata Kunci: Sereh Wangi, Minyak Atsiri, Destilasi Stainless Steam, GC-MS Indonesia, as a tropical country, has a biodiversity that produces essential oils. The need for essenstial oils is increasing every year along with the increasing development of modern industries such as the parfume, cosmetic, food pharmaceutical, aromatherapy, and medicine industries. The purpose of this research was to determine the results of the identification of essential oil compounds in Citronella Grass (Cymbopogon nardus) using GC-MS. GC-MS is a combination of GC and MS tools. The samples were separated first using GC (Gas Chromatography), then identified with MS (Mass Spectrometry). The essential oil was taken from samples of Citronella Grass (Cymbopogon nardus) which contained about 1-2% essential oil on a wet basis. The parts taken from the Citronella Grass samples were leaves, stems, bark, and roots. The method used to extract essential oil compaunds was Stainless Steam Distilation. Identification of essential oils was carried out by the GC-MS method. The results of the qualitative analysis showed that there were 3 characteristics of essential oils contituents viewed from the peak of the GC-MS graph, namely: Terpineol (Monoterpene), Guaiol (Secondary Metabolite), and Spathulanol (Sesquiterpene).
