Abstract
Yakon (Smallanthus soncifolius) merupakan salah satu tumbuhan yang dapat menyembuhkan Diabetes Melitus karena mengandung senyawa fenol, saponin dan alkaloid. Senyawa ini berperan dalam menurunkan kadar gula darah. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektivitas ekstrak etanol umbi Yakon (Smallanthus sonchifolius) dalam menurunkan kadar gula darah pada mencit jantan (Mus musculus) yang diinduksi aloksan. Uji efektivitas penurunan kadar gula darah dilakukan dengan membagi hewan uji ke dalam 4 kelompok yang terdiri dari 5 ekor mencit jantan. Semua kelompok diberi perlakuan sesuai kelompok uji: kelompok 1 (kontrol negatif), kelompok 2 (kontrol positif menggunakan glibenklamid), kelompok uji 1 (dosis ekstrak 100 mg/KgBB), dan kelompok uji 2 (dosis ekstrak 200 mg/KgBB) hingga terjadi penurunan kadar gula darah. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan antara kelompok kontrol positif, kelompok uji 1, dan kelompok uji 2 terhadap kontrol negatif. Ekstrak etanol umbi yakon yang paling efektif menurunkan kadar gula darah adalah kelompok uji 2 dengan dosis ekstrak 200 mg/KgBB. Yacon (Smallanthus soncifolius) is one of the plants that can cure diabetes mellitus as it contains phenolic compounds, saponins, and alkaloids. These compounds play an essential role in lowering blood sugar levels. This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of the ethanolic extract of yacon (Smallanthus soncifolius) in reducing blood sugar levels in male mica (Mus musculus) induced by alloxan. The effectiveness test for decreasing blood sugar levels was carried out by dividing the tested animals into four groups consisting of five male mice. All groups were treated according to the test group: group 1 (negative control), group 2 (positive control using glibenclamide), experimental group 1 (extract dose of 100 mg/kgBW), and experimental group 2 (extract dose of 200 mg/kgBW) until the decrease in blood sugar levels. The findings indicate that there were significant differences between the positive control group, experimental group 1, and experimental group 2 agains the negative control group. To sum up. The yacon ethanol extract that was most effective in decreasing blood sugar levels was experimental group 2 with an extract dose of 200 mg/kgBW.
