Abstract

This study aims to determine the root causes of poverty in poor housesholds in Gorontalo city and explain the dominant factor affecting the welfare of the poor. These result indicate that the dominant factor affecting the level of poverty in the city of Gorontalo is the limited access to employment. Strategies effective in tackling poverty in the city Gorontalo is done through three approaches namely: poverty reduction approaches, improving the quality of human resources and economic improvement.
